its on 21.xx firmware, and my current sim is virgin mobile, will the phone lock back to tmobile?

No, the sim lock will not go back on.

Yes, the device will more than likely become locked, as you’re flashing the firmware on the device. It also depends on the type of upgrade however. Play it safe if you’re concerned. Worst case scenario is you’ll have to unlock it again via code if locked.If so, these guys can do it over the net…
