  1. @RoRoMCR hehehe, that’s a good point. =D iPhone is the best there, you can zoom in a lot and if you take the photo in a place where there is a lot of light, there won’t be a problem in reading any of it ^^

  3. @cornflaker Sure, a half decent, but paying hundreds of dollars more for an, I don’t know, 12 mpx camera on a cellphone is kinda pointless if you ask me. I never needed mindblowing quality on a cellphone photo which will most likely just be me and my friends. on the other hand, if you’re into serious photography, imo you should just buy a real camera, since a cellphone is never going to be able to take such good photos as a real camera device, and you’re just throwing away money. I agree there.

  4. @pqwoie07 well i guess in terms of how grainy the photo is and colour wise, the ccd/cmos sensor would play a massive role

    I know megapixels isnt the only criterion. But , my complaint is , even with similar cameras ( most camera phones have AF nowadays ) , the image quality differs a lot . For eg , the difference between sony ericsson yari and elm image quality is huge , even though both come with 5mp and similar sensors/lens. Also ,I believe there is nothing wrong with 5800 lens , since it is from carl zeiss . maybe , as you said , the sensor could be inferior .

  6. @pqwoie07 because there is more than just megapixels that affects how good a camera is, you also need a good sensor and lens, and if a camera doesn’t have autofocus the photos wont come out nearly as sharp

  7. @SingstarStar its still nice to have a half decent camera though, (i’m not saying this one is crap btw I have a 5300 which is pretty much the same phone but smaller and i quite like the camera on it)

    the camera is ok , but not that good . I have seen 3 mp sony ericsson camera phones with better image quality . For its price , nokia 5800 is a good phone and I bought one sometime back . But , I dont understand why image quality differs across different phones (sometimes within the same company ) with the same resolution .

  9. because it makes more sense to carry only one device rather than two … which is why people want good cameras on their phones … anyway , for now you are right . even the best camera phone is no match for a …

  14. hmmm…high? i think it’s quite fantastic for the given features…what other options would u recommend? i’m planning to get 5800 this weekend at lowyat…

  15. go and get a digital camera instead if high expectation is in mind. nokia 5800 sold at RM1000 is not bad. but the price still high for a phone like this

  17. the camera is perfectly fine. most ppl that complain probably arent photographers.

  18. Darkness is this cameras enemy, that is about the only downside. With the new update, the camera has become a little bit better, but it’s not really as good as to replace a digital camera of choise.

    But hell, it’s good enough for me. If there is a fight, something my gf does wich I can use later to tease her, or if I just need a new wallpaper, it does the job more then good enough. :)

  23. Can anyone confirm when you are taking a picture in door in average light does the Veiwer ‘screen’ look low res ? Like not totally crisp
